This banner feathers the #1 logo was originally created to celebrate the 1969 AMA Grand National Championship season title of Harley-Davidson racer Mert Lawwill. It was later modified to the current version to include stars within the logo. It became a common logo for Harley-Davidson in the 1970’s and was revived in recent years.
