Stories from the Vault: A Century-Old Ride, Brought to Life - September 4 & 5, 2026

Go beyond the exhibits and experience Harley-Davidson history through the eyes of the people who preserve it every day.

As part of our Stories in the Vault series, this special program offers rare access to the Harley-Davidson Archives team as they share the stories, research, and behind-the-scenes insight that bring the Museum's collection to life.

Through first-hand interpretation and live demonstration, you'll explore what riding was really like 100 years ago and discover how the museum archives team preserves and shares these remarkable stories.

During The RIDE Home, on Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5, Archives team members will use a 1920 Harley-Davidson J Model to illustrate the realities of motorcycling a century ago. From starting and maintaining a motorcycle to navigating an era before paved roads, modern technology and everyday conveniences.

As the motorcycle history unfolds, so do the stories of the riders, innovators, and moments that helped define Harley-Davidson and influence generations of riders.

More than a presentation, this is an opportunity to engage directly with the experts who preserve the Harley-Davidson egacy. Ask questions, explore craftmanship and engineering of a century-old motorcycle, and gain a deeper appreciation of the people, and innovations that shaped motorcycle history.

These programs are offered only on select occasions and are not part of the regular Museum experience.
