In July of 1969, the cinematic landscape would forever be altered with the release of the seminal independent film Easy Rider. The “road picture” – starring legends such as Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson – sparked a new way to produce films that would turn Hollywood on its ear. Set to the sounds of a blistering soundtrack, Fonda (Captain America) and Hopper (Billy) make their way across America on a pair of customized Harley-Davidson motorcycles – hardtail Harley-Davidson Panheads that have become as famous as the movie itself – to look for America, but “couldn’t find it anywhere.”
Fifty years later, this monumental production is still blazing trails. To mark this occasion, the Harley-Davidson Museum is honored to present a special screening of Easy Rider on Friday, April 5. The film will be followed by a moderated discussion with producer, writer and star Peter Fonda, and Gino Salamone from FOX6. Tickets are now on sale for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear Fonda discuss what the movie did for his career, how it inspired legions of Harley-Davidson riders to find their own freedom on the open road and how it reverberated throughout pop culture.
VIP packages are available and include the opportunity to meet with Peter Fonda prior to the screening as well as premium, reserved seating, one complimentary beverage, one complimentary ticket to the world’s only Harley-Davidson Museum where you can see a replica of Fonda’s famed Captain America Harley-Davidson and more.
