A Note from Matt Levatich on Harley-Davidson’s Sustainability Vision

Harley-Davidson’s sustainability vision is to “Preserve and Renew the Freedom to Ride.” When we established this vision several years ago we reflected on our history and realized that our past success, longevity and future opportunities hinge upon our ability to continuously renew the sport of motorcycling while preserving the best aspects of our heritage and our communities, including our natural resources. In 2017 we reaffirmed our commitment through a long-term company objective to grow our business without growing our environmental impact.

At Harley-Davidson, sustainability is about more than just the environment. It encompasses all of the things we are focused on to ensure a sustainable business model and future for this great company and all those dependent on it — from the powerful social bonds that are woven into our culture, to the valued behaviors we expect of our employees and the sense of community that comes with motorcycling and corporate citizenship. We are all-in on building the next generation of riders globally to ensure the future of motorcycling for generations to come.

To that end, with this 2018 Sustainability Report we are providing more transparency, information and data than ever before about our goals, our progress and our actions to forever improve the environmental, social and governance impacts of our company.
