I spent ages taking this on and off, thinking that I was doing something stupid. It just does not fit. I had a trim ring on my Roadking and that fitted fine. This one for my 17 FLHXS is rubbish. Like everyone else has said, it leaves a gap. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it......

Not what I expected from Harley !!!!
Spent several hundred dollars on a Daymaker, and bought this ring to accent it, and never thought I'd regret buying Genuine Harley. Whoever engineered this and approved this thing should be ashamed. This ring doesn't replace the original instead it's just an overlay. After struggling to get the ring to seat in place and start the screw and nut, the fit and finish is less than acceptable for me. The split in the ring leaves a 1/4" gap at the bottom and absolutely will not close. I could almost live with that, but the gaping 3/8" space between the ring and the headlamp is just a trap for bugs, water, and dirt. I would have rather paid more for a ring that replaced the original and had the gasket that sealed around the headlamp bezel like the the factory ring does. I was told that Harley reads these reviews, well I hope so. C'mon guys help us out here.

Good idea. Terrible engineering.
I won't go so far to say that Harley should fire whoever designed this, but I am not sure how this part could meet their expectations from a Q/A perspective. I'm pretty sure the problem is that it isn't designed to fit over the OEM trim ring. I know that's how you install it, sure... but it's as if it wasn't designed with that in mind, hence why we have this 1/4" gap at the bottom that literally every review on here talks about.
Harley - Add about a 1/4" diameter to this so it's able to tighten down flush, and you're set. Also, make sure where it fits up to itself at the bottom is centered. It's slightly off to the left in reality. Even bump the price up 5 bucks for all I care, and I'd still buy it to have a nice, finished look.
In conclusion, I've bought plenty of Harley parts for my new Road King, and everything has been great. I've genuinely felt that most of the time... buying an HD part is getting me a little bump in quality over the competitors, even if the cost is double (or more...). But this thing. Wow. I might live with it for a while, because it doesn't look awful or anything (hence the 'fair' rating I'm giving it). Also, the visor rings for the auxiliary lights that Harley sells are PERFECT. Seriously, Harley - just rise to that level of quality for the main headlamp and it'll be a home run.

Better Quality Expected
I purchased this and the two for the smaller lights. The two smaller lights look great. This ring was not of good quality. The seam did not match up when tightened. I read this in the reviews and thought now way, but it's real.. They have an issue here that needs to be looked at..
