Manufactured from strong, scratch resistant material with a glare-reducing finish, the Harley-Davidson® Detachables Windsplitter Vented Windshield is the self-proclaimed super hero of windshields.
- Shield is formed of hard-coated polycarbonate for strength and scratch resistance, and the dark-smoked finish reduces glare
- Slim polished stainless steel brackets mount to the Original Equipment rubber isolated docking points for ease of installation and removal
- Reduces helmet buffeting at speed
- Features an exclusive fingertip-adjustable center vent that reduces turbulence behind the windscreen
- When open, the controlled airflow fills the negative pressure area behind the shield and helps to smooth the flow of air over the top of the screen and around the rider
- Revised flow reduces helmet bobbing and neck fatigue so you can comfortably spend more time in the saddle
- Open vent provides cooling airflow to the rider at low speeds and in city traffic

Looks great on a Slim
I bought this for my 2012 Softail Slim mainly because of the narrow style and darker tint. I didn't realize at the time of purchase that I need to have the auxiliary lights, so I bought that kit too. All in all its adds a great sleek look to the Slim. I only use it on long (200+) highway trips and it keeps the wind off my chest. I only wear a Chinese novelty helmet so I can speak for helmet buffeting.

Love this windshield!
I tried so many windshields (everything from 16 inch to 21 inch that Harley offers) at my local dealership and wasn't happy with any of them since they would cause wind buffeting at higher speeds. I saw this design with vent and thought it might be able to work, if not, I'll just return it. The verdict is, it doesn't cause any buffeting at all at lower speeds (up to 50 MPH), and lower buffeting above that speed if you open the vent. I'm so glad I gave this a try. I thought I would only use when going on long rides but it is so good that I leave it on my bike all the time. Also, it looks great on the bike (see pic). I knocked off one star because I don't know why Harley makes it only with chrome hardware. It looks bad when all your bike is blacked out, your windshield is smoked black, and your mounting hardware is chrome!!

Fitment for 2007 Fat Boy with Freight train headlamp
This is a great windscreen and was worth the work of trying to make it fit my '07 Fat Boy. If you are thinking of buying this windscreen, know that it will NOT fit your bike if you have a Nacelle "Freight Train" head lamp. Also, the replacement hardware (mounting bolts) that came with the windscreen are too long for the bolt holes on the down forks on the '07's. Also, the replacement hardware is not chrome, but crappy stainless steel heads. Looks real cheesey if you mount them on your stock downtubes on the '07. I had to order a conversion kit from HD to get the right mounting bolts. The real chore was having to trim the bottom of the windscreen to fit around the head lamp. Out of the box, it won't fit and HD parts manual says nothing about it "not fitting". The instructions recommend that you take a sabre saw and cut about an additional half inch off of the bottom of the windscreen. I couldn't imagine taking a sabre saw to a piece of lexan/plexi glass without the high probability of cracking the windscreen. I took a Dremel tool and attached the sanding bit and carved the windscreen, by hand, to the right fitment. You need to have a steady hand to do it or the Dremel will buck and you'll end up chipping your windscreen. Once I got it mounted, I went for a shake-down cruise and it is an AWESOME wind screen. Well worth the price and all of the work needed to make it fit the 2007 FLSTF Fat Boy.

Windsplitter Windshield
Absolutely love this windshield. I'm 5'8" and can see easily over it. The vent allows me to adjust the wind flow so well I can ride @ interstate speeds with out glasses if I choose to (not recommended though). I will never own another type of windshield for my current or future Harley motorcycles (that allow use of a normal windshield). First and best accessory I have bought so far.
