Road Tech Zumo 590 Navigation System is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best GPS System for your HD Motorcycle and Automobile I have had a Gamin in the past and traveling all over the USA and when I heard about the Road Tech Zumo 590 with Bluetooth I had to get this model. The update is quick and it takes a long time to do the updates for the first time but after that it gets better. Although this model is not for a 04 Road King I got this to work just fine and best of all it works the best. I bought the unit at Paradise Harley Davidson in Tigard Oregon and Mel the Parts Person knew a lot more about this model. Mark Wilcox Hillsboro, Oregon

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GPS Works Well This unit is very good. The only "negative" is with the screen brightness, which can wash out in some bright sun situations. I used the mounting plate that is an add-on. There is no vibration and the display is very detailed. One note - if you are using this Harley mount you don't need all of the other wires that are included with the basic kit. The dealer wired them per the instructions, but then I took those connectors and hid them up under the tank and seat. I paired the GPS with my wireless headset and can hear the route guidance over my music. Perfect setup. I also like the fact that you can update the maps as needed via your computer. Very pleased with the system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unit has a major flaw I've had this GPS for 3 month. It has one major problem right out of the box. The battery charging system does not work. It was unable to charge from the USB cable provided when plugged into an AC power adapter. It was unable to charge while it was plugged into a computer while downloading update(Garmin does indicate that it will charge more slowly while connected to a computer). The only way I could get it to take a charge was to use the provided car adapter. Other than the charging issue, I thought this GPS was great and filled with useful features. After reading the forums, I am not the only person with this problem. I would hope that HD would pull this off the shelves until it can be fixed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Road Tech Zumo 590 Navigation System This is a great gps. I have used it several times going to places I have never been. It is very easy to use both in finding locations and pairing to other devises. The turn by turn thru my head set and radio is great. I especially like the ability to avoid highways and by pairing it with my phone using the smart link it has guided me around road construction. Which is great for all the construction going on. You would think the roads would be better!!

Will this work with a NIM on a 2013 FLHTK?

I am looking to purchase a GPS unit that will mute music. The 665 is no longer available and I don't want to use bluetooth for the gps and hard wired intercom for my passenger.

I have a 2013 Ultra Classic that I purchased as a second owner last year. Shortly after getting the bike, I had my local dealer install a stereo upgrade with new speakers, an amplifier, a satellite radio receiver an iPod interface and finally the Zumo 550 the additional wiring harness. The primary reason that I selected the 550 was I wanted the GPS audio outputs to come through the factory stereo. All that I can say is that it doesn't work most of the time. After I got my bike back from the dealership and discovered the problem, I took it back to the dealer and advised them of it. They had my bike for two weeks and they were only able to get the GPS audio outputs to come through the stereo when the Zumu 550 was displaying the screen that shows the next direction change or turn. When the map screen is displayed, you would only spoken directions less than 5% of the time. Not really handy in my opinion. Part of the issue is that while this accessory is sold through HD Dealers, it is not actually an HD accessory. It was designed and build by Garmin, and then modified to HS specs by Garmin for Harley. This leads to issues when troubleshooting any problems between the stereo and the GPS. HD technical support claims the issues are with the Garmin unit, and Garmin claims the issues are with the HD head unit. Because of this, no one will actually resolve the issues. Basically HD does no longer supports this unit, because since 2014, the touring series have come with the new stereo that integrates all of the audio functions with the built in navigation system. I also own a Road Tech Zumo 660 that is mounted on my 2001 Electra Glide Classic. Since that unit was no longer available I went with the Road Tech Zumo 550 for my 2013 Ultra Classic. It doesn't really work as I was hoping, since it rarely comes through the stereo. The 550 was designed and built to have it's audio outputs come through a stereo, since it DOES NOT come equipped with it's own speaker. The supplied automotive mount has a speaker, which is what allows you to hear the unit when you use it in an automobile. The automotive mount is not designed for use on a motorcycle, so the Zumo 550 cannot be used unless there is a stereo for it's audio outputs. Iron Cross Audio supposedly does great work with the Harmon Kardon stereo head units. I plan on contacting them this spring, and seeing if they can possibly resolve the issue. So, the short answer to your questions is no, not really.

Zumo 590LM availability

Is the Zumo 590LM available? On your site ordering options are grayed out and says to check stores for availability. Most stores in my area (Toledo, Ohio) DO NOT have them and others advise to check the store for availability. Garmin has the 595LM but I was looking for the Zumo for the HD stores list/locations.

Hi Toledobernie, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience in trying to find the H-D Road Tech Zumo 590. The H-D Online Store has the item grayed out because it only sold in select stores. *** I say select because the dealer has the option to purchase or not purchase item(s) that will sell in their dealership. With this said, the only dealership in Ohio who may have this item is: Thiel's Wheels H-D in Upper Sandusky. If you would like additional references, please contact the H-D Online Store at: 1-800-258-2464. Hope this helps!

2015 CVO Limited

Is there a work around for me to install the Road Tech Zumo 590 to my 2015 CVO Limited? Since it can be installed on 2017 CVO Limited. Thanks Walter Vincent
Asked by: wjvins

Does the Zumo 590 come complete with all of the mounting hardware and charging (power) hook up?

Asked by: MJRSr
Yes it does. I used the Iron Aces mount so that the Zumo could be mounted directly above my speedo/tach Nacel enclosure. Some like the handlebar mount though. It doesn't have the Sirius radio like the other models. You can Bluetooth to your phone to access Pandora or Sirius through your phone but if you ride where there is no cell service then you can only access your iTunes music stored on your phone.
