Rated 5 out of 5 by from A whole new bike 2009 FLHX. I replaced the stock front after 32000+ miles and I have to say it feels like a whole new bike. I started by changed the rear to the Premium and that helped smoothing out larger bumps, but I still was not overly impressed. I went ahead and ordered the new front suspension and managed to install them myself. The first ride was great. It helped with the ride comfort but really made the handling and feel of the bike much better. Put 1800 miles on it last week on a ride to Canada and it felt great the whole time. I would recommend this upgrade but do yourself a favor and replace both the front and rear. Happy riding!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Made a "ka-thunk" sound going over steep curbs I purchased these and had them installed at the dealer a few months ago. I noticed that when I pulled into my driveway (or pulled out) the front end made a ka-thunk sound going over the curb. As I have had seven motorcycles since owning this house, and had never heard this from a front end before, I figured something was wrong and brought it back to the local dealer, who was able to replicate the issue and suggested that the cartridges may not have been fully charged. So I exchanged the cartridge for a unit from an alternative aftermarket supplier which seemed to solve the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have upgrade! Best money I have spent on the bike! Eliminated front end dive and wishy-washy cornering. I had my dealer install some Performance heavy duty adjustable rear shocks at the same time and the difference in the ride is like night and day. I'm a big guy and would bottom out on pot holes all the time and now it rarely happens. I really did not like the ride of my FLHTK until I had the suspension upgraded but now it is comfortable and controlled. I don't know how much help just the front shock upgrade would be, but the package made a huge difference!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic! Worth every penny! I was a bit hesitant due to the price, but WOW! The Premium Double Cartridge Fork Kit was worth every penny! My Street Glide now holds the line when going through a turn and does not bounce on the interstate like it did before. This kit was a big confidence booster when running through a tight corner. I wish that i had these installed sooner. If you are thinking about it, I can tell you that they are worth every penny! They will give you a feel of control that was not available on the stock shocks. Oh, I also replaced the rear shocks with the premium shocks. Both together produce an Epic ride!

DblHklKen - Cartridges not fully charged?

Thanks for the reply, DblHklKen, but I don't understand the comment " cartridges may not be fully charged". What does that mean? These are not sealed cartridges. They must be "pumped" up with fork oil during installation. Is that what you are referring to? If you could find out what your technician did to correct the problem I appreciate it. My next step is to pull the whole thing apart and see if there is something installed incorrectly, I can't believe that this would be normal. Thanks

Is "thunk" noise normal with premium ride double cartridge fork kit?

I installed these on a 2012 ultra limited. Now when I hit a rather sharp bump there is a very audible "thunk" in the front end. Is this normal?
Asked by: ebeot
It must be because I have it too.

When is Harley going to put some serious R&D into suspension?

Even the Premium suspension is sub-par to any other motorcycle manufacture. Team up with Ohlin, Koni, Fox moto, You guys make motorcycles. Go to the guys that make quality shocks for your suspension. 111 years of bad ride is enough don't ya think?
Asked by: irideaknuckle

Can the amount of pre-load on these be adjusted?

Can pre-load be increased to compensate for the rider and passenger weight and riding style? For example more pre-load for a more aggressive rider or to accommodate higher combined passenger/luggage loads than those the cartridges are set for at the time of manufacture.
Asked by: Phat01
With this fork kit you can't make any adjustments. But if you use them with the Premium Ride Hand-Adjustable Touring Shocks they will balance out the load.

Does this kit, or can this kit, lower the bike by 1" like the Profile Low Front Lowering Kit?

I need to lower my FLHTK by 1" and was wondering if I can use the Premium Double Cartridge Fork Kit for this or do I have to go with the Profile Low Front Lowering Kit?
Asked by: Anonymous
If you need a solid inch I highly recommend the combo of the Low Pro front end kit with the low pro rear suspension. I'm vertically challenged myself and I feel much more secure with my feet flat on the ground.
