Not worth the $$$$$
Ordered this to replace the ugly 105 Anniversary HD (looks like H---a wings) badging on my 08 FXSTC. No dealers had stock to look at so I ordered these. Imagine my surprise when I received these cheap looking stamped steel badges. Well, I decided to go with it anyway. The separately ordered backing plates had punched threaded screw holes which resulted in dimples on the tank side that made the plate stand off and not let the double faced tape adhere 100%. Areas were not even thinking about sticking. I had to use my own (thicker) double faced tape, which makes the badging project from the tank somewhat. What a poor design at a premium cost. Not what I expect from HD.

Doing things half-assed
Apparently, HD asserted their rights to have their name badges not sold in the after market (where they were done right) and, this I totally understand - it is their name after all. I did not pick weather I either did or didn't recommend this product because the answer to that is yes and no: If you want a nice set of "chrome" badges to put on a new set of tanks, they are great. But, if you are trying to outfit an actual set of 1951-195"3" tanks like I am, there are two problems:1) they are chrome - originals were stainless steel 2) the name badge is the same from 1951-1954 however, from 1951-1953 there was a separate "stainless" strip badge that ran under the name badge and no one at Harley (save the archivist maybe) has any idea of it.
This brings me to the tile of this review "half ass"... I feel that if you are a venerated and historic American company such as Harley Davidson, then you would want to get things right for everyone and not only the stockholders - But, then again who am I?... just an old American who has been riding HD"s since the Shovelhead (another term that no one at the "CO" seems to remember) was a new model.
