    Electrical connection harness plug
Electrical Connection Update Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Necessary for any accesssories Had to install this harness for the heated grips and garage door opener on my Tri Glide. Works as designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Necessary, but needs better instructions This particular part is necessary in order to prevent you splicing into the stock wires and keep a clean installation for items like heated grips. The instructions though are lacking in properly adding the B+ wire. It does not even have any to tell you to insert the end into the plug, much less how to open the plug.

Toggle switch will not shut down the power

2017 FLHR, installed this harness without the wire connecting to the battery. I also installed a toggle switch RT side of nacelle. There is power to my GPS, but the toggle switch does not shut down the power. The only way to shut off power to GPS, is to turn off ignition power. I use cig. lighter as the connector to this harness and plug in my GPS to the cig. lighter cup. I noticed the wiring from the toggle switch goes to the CoolFan connector located under seat.

Step #3 in the install instructions? Confusing and need clarification please

3.See Figure 2 and Table 1. Release the secondary lock of accessory connector [325B]. Insert the terminal end of the B+ adapter (3) into cavity 3. Press the secondary lock downward. What is "325B"? Where is "cavity 3"? Explain the "secondary lock" please. Thank you.

This caught me as well. The instructions are sorely lacking on this particular step and it took me a bit to figure it out as well. I'm hoping you already have it resolved and this may help someone else that is struggling with it. Typically you use the little molex pin to pop these out and slide them forward. This is a weather resistant plug though so it actually opens from the front. On the top of a plug there is a place to push with a small screwdriver and pop the front of the plug out. The wires will then slide forward and you can remove the plastic dummy filler where this new wire will be inserted from the back. Be sure to align the direction of the wire and connector with the others. Put the cover back on and the rest of the instructions are reasonably easy to follow. I've attached some photos that helped me.

Auto shut off ?

This kit requires running a line directly from the positive terminal from the battery into the accessory/harness. My question is will that mean the power is in a constant "on" state ? I plan to wire up heated grips (which recommends this connection kit) and I want to ensure that when the bike is turned off the grips are guaranteed to shut off as well. Thanks.

You have three wires in total to that connector once you put in the B+ connector pin. The black wire is ground, the violet/blue wire is accessory power (ignition switch needs to be in the ignition or accessory to be hot) and the red/blue wire is direct power and always hot. Looking at the schematics for my Streamliner heated grips you connect all three and the accessory power wire (violet/blue) activates an internal switch in the grips that activates power for the grips which is sourced from the red/blue wire direct to battery. Short answer, yes once you turn off the ignition the grips will shut off. I hope that helps.
