I had thIs light bar installed by the professional service department at Smokey Mountain Harley-Davidson in Maryville, Tennessee and they did a fantastic job: as always. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interference! I purchased this part for my 2011 FLTRU along with the the replacement Bar & Shield LED Tail Lamp (68118-08). Blacking out my Road Glide, and the replacement tail lamp with its black base and smoked lense seemed to be a great combo with the black rear light bar... So, here's the thing... The angle of the new Tail Lamp (which I would have thought would be a direct replacement for the original) along with the thicker construction of the new light bar, made the two interfere with each other and so would not fit into the bolt patterns in the rear fender. Ended up modifying the fender by dropping the light bar about 1/2" by drilling new holes. Leaves the original holes partially exposed between the new tail lamp and light bar. Since I'm also doing paint work to the bike as part of the project, not a huge deal... But, I know many are now going to black on their bikes and this combo would be great if it fit together right (at least on the 2011 FLTRU).

Does the 38700483 Bullet Rear Light Bar eliminate the gap between the fender and the light bar?

Where in owners manual....

The instructions for this part state: "All Models Follow owner's manual instructions to remove the existing rear light bar. Retain screws (C)" However no where, in the 2017 FLHXS Owners Manual does it state how to remove the existing light bar. Why can't the instructions be included with the part?

Install on 2011 Road Glide Ultra

I purchased this to install on the above bike. Original light at plugs in with two separate two connector plugs into the board behind the rear tail light. This product has one larger plug. Also, the turn signals in this product have three wires instead of two per light in the original part... Added wire in this product is blue - daytime running light I believe... So, I think if I simply abandon the blue wires from the new lights and wire only black and violet wires back into the original plugs I'll be good. Also, I can connect the two black wires for the added license plate light into the available connection for the rear fender tip plug available... Is this correct? Thanks!

OK. So I'll answer my own question as I just wired it up on my 2011 Road Glide Ultra - in case anyone else is looking at it. Original bike rear bar has single filament bulbs. New kit has dual filament. Extra wires in the new kit are blue in each bulb for daytime running lights (so original light bar has one black and one violet per bulb, new part has black, violet and blue). All wires in the new kit are connected into one large connector that is not correct for my bike. So, I cut out the harness in the new kit and separated the wires (three sets of wires - right light, left light and license plate light). Three wires for each turn signal colored as stated above, and then a set of two black wires for the lower license plate light. For the two blacks (license plate light), there is a socket reserved for tip light in the existing connector board behind the brake light assembly - where all the rear lights connect. Use the empty Tip Light socket - it is a three wire connector top left, but you will only use the two outside connections. Attach the pins that come with a new three wire connector that you can get from Harley for the available Tip Light socket (the connector is a "Multi-Lock 070 3-pin Female"). Doesn't matter which black goes on which side - polarity doesn't matter. On my bike, left is ground, right is hot. I didn't put the black wires from the new light bar directly into the new connector - i stubbed out two wires from this connector so I could figure out what went where and then connect more than one wire as I ended up needing to do . For the turn signals, I clipped the connector off the original light bar and left enough wire so I could splice in the Black and Violet wires from the new kit for each bulb. Easy enough. That leaves the Blue Wires - one per bulb. I spliced both into the Tip Light where the two blacks for the license plate light went - both blues go together into the hot for the tip light -I stubbed out a wire from the new tip light connector I bought and then soldered all three wires into this (one of the blacks for the license plate light and both blues, one from each turn signals) - its the wire on the right side on my bike. Voila, perfect working order... Be careful not to leave too much slack in the wires so as not to risk having any rubbing under the fender... I soldered the wires in place in all cases and shrink wrapped the splices. Nice kit. Really like the way it all turned out!

Compared to international

Is this LED or filament? What is the difference between international and domestic version?

Not sure the difference between Domestic and International version - I just installed this bar into my 2011 Road Glide Ultra... It is a dual filament bulb - Turn Signal and Daytime Running Light. It is NOT LED.
