Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Clean Look I bought the CB and AM/FM shorty's and am pleased with the look and performance. Make sure during installation to note the CB or AM/FM identifier near the base of each antenna for proper placement.

Do the Boom shorty CB antennas have a longer range than standard whip?

The whips seem to have a very short range, less than a quarter mile. In larger groups, we lose contact with standard equipment.
Asked by: SCTom
In a word, no. The more antenna you having hanging out in the breeze the better. Up to a point that is...with a LONG-LONG antenna the reception becomes "peaky"....Meaning that some directions will get better reception while others won't get as muich.
