Requires separate purchase of Installation Adhesive Kit P/N 11100088. Kit includes Rotor Assembly P/N 30041-08. Installation on ’06 Dyna® models require separate purchase of ’07-style stator.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Replacement For OE Comp I recently put in a Stage 2 kit upgrading my 96cc to a 103cc with 255 cams in my 2011 Fat Bob. The increased compression and starting torque was murder on the OE compensator. About 3 months after installing the stage 2 kit there was horrible lurching in the drive chain in first or second at low speed/RPM and incredible banging noises from the primary with starting. Starting would "catch" when the engine was completely heat soaked and not turn over at all, almost like the starter was hitting a brick wall in the primary. Pulled the primary cover and found LOTS of metal and metal flakes on the drain plug, scoring on the teeth in the comp and obvious metal damage to the 3 small inner comp teeth/gears. This new SE Comp was installed about a week ago and now has 250+ miles on it. Bagging noise gone, starting issues gone, and no drive chain lurch. You never realize how bad things are until they are fixed. Was even able to tolerate me full throttle launching onto the Highway in 1/2nd gear. Love it! ONLY ISSUE: The install requires "gluing" or bonding an oil redirection piece into the outer primary case cover. No big deal accept Harley can't sell the glue kit. I have no idea why!?! That's OK... JB Weld engine case epoxy did the trick. Obviously if you want to keep a warranty or guarantee that that plastic piece won't come off than a certified dealer has to install it. UBER ANNOYING that Harley makes a part but wont sell the pieces/kit to install it. Trust me though.....the JB weld will do just as good as the glue kit that the dealer would use. Just make sure to prep the surfaces well....... clean and roughed with wire brush to accept epoxy/glue, and don't refill the primary until the FULL set time has gone by. Overall seems like a great part......we will see how it holds up in the long run. The compensator seems to be the weak link in the Harley v-twin engine and this ultra tough redesigned piece seems to have fixed that particular problem.
