As Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Michelle Kumbier is responsible for delivering the full operating results of the business. This includes providing leadership and oversight for the company’s global sales markets and dealer network, the design and development of high demand and profitable products, and the flexibility and efficiency of Harley-Davidson’s global manufacturing operations.
Kumbier joined Harley-Davidson in 1997 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including Senior Vice President of Product and Operations, Senior Vice President of Motorcycle Operations, Senior Vice President of Product Development and Vice President of Materials Management.
Prior to joining Harley-Davidson, Kumbier spent 11 years with the Kohler Company in Kohler, Wis., where she held various positions within the Plumbing and Engine divisions.
She is active in supporting the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts, including leading the women’s affinity group since 2013 as the executive sponsor. She also provides support for the National Association of Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) initiative that celebrates women’s leadership in manufacturing with a focus on closing the manufacturing skills gap in the United States.
Kumbier holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing from Lakeland College and she received her MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
