Two Quebec chapters join forces on a fun ride through the Appalachian Mountains
By Gilles Touchette, Historian, HOG® Montérégie Chapter
This story is about a collaboration that resulted in new friendships, riding partners and friendly neighbours. I hope it inspires you on your next ride or gives you an idea for expanding your riding partner network.
Seventy-two people from two HOG® chapters – Lac St-Jean and Montérégie – joined together on an inter-chapter ride in the Val-Racine region near Lac-Mégantic.
Led by Annie Martel (Marketing Director at Léo Harley-Davidson) and in collaboration with Julie Guillemette (Director, Montérégie Chapter), Robin Blackburn (director, Lac St-Jean Chapter) and sponsor Léo Harley-Davidson, this ride explored the backroads of the Eastern Townships, through the fantastic Appalachian Mountains.
The large collection of riders from the two chapters met in St-Georges in la Beauce to begin a three-day journey through Eastern Maine, near Round Mountain, and then through Colebrook, New Hampshire. A highlight was a stop at the Black Bear Tavern for dinner before riding back to Val-Racine, Quebec.
United by the same passion, the goal of this inter-chapter ride was to create bonds of friendship and, of course, have fun, share stories, eat together and develop a beautiful relationship between members of both chapters. An extraordinary energy was the end result for all riders and we all look forward to seeing each other again.
For HOG members of both the Montérégie and Lac St-Jean chapters, the hope is that this tradition is here to stay.
Note: A big thank you to Martin Audet of Farnham Ale & Lager and all contributors to and supporters of this beautiful project.
