| GETTING STARTED: TECHNICAL TRAINING CAN LEAD TO AN EXCITING CAREER |
| Many careers at a Harley-Davidson dealership require technical training. Some of these positions include: |
 | Service Staff | | Service Technician | | Service Technician Expert | | Master Service Technician | | Service Writer | | Master of Service Technology | | Shop Foreman |
| While there are distinct job titles, the technical careers share the same basic skills. Once these core skills are mastered, specialized training geared toward the motorcycle industry is usually learned by attending a technical training program through a public or private technical institution. Harley-Davidson has developed a short-term training option to introduce the skills and knowledge required of a motorcycle technician. MMI is the only career education school that offers a Harley-Davidson specific 24-week elective curriculum that is aligned with Harley-Davidson University. |
| The Motorcycle Mechanics Institute offers a complete education (aligned with Harley-Davidson University) for a career in the motorcycle industry. With two educational centers serving both coasts (Phoenix and Orlando), MMI's dedication to technical education has become the foundation for providing a new breed of educated entry-level motorcycle technicians. |
| Harley-Davidson has partnerships with four colleges: Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University in Kansas, Central Carolina Community College in North Carolina, and Lake Washington Technical College in Washington. These colleges offer Diploma, two-year Associates' Degrees and Bachelors' degrees with emphasis on Harley-Davidson studies. All programs include Harley-Davidson specific technical hands-on courses using Harley-Davidson motorcycles, diagnostic tools and specialized equipment as well as non-technical college courses. Some schools offer internship programs with participating Harley-Davidson dealerships. |
