Slip on shoes, trainers, sandals or dress shoes are not suitable for riding a motorcycle. If you attend the course wearing this type of shoe, you may be unable to ride. We do not recommend you wear steel toe capped boots. We provide full face helmets; Rider's Edge will not accept liability for injuries sustained as a direct consequence of not wearing a full face safety helmet. You are welcome to bring your own helmet and motorcycle clothing if you wish. You may also wish to consider packing motorcycle sunglasses, neck tube for added comfort whilst riding.

PHYSICAL FITNESS
Motorcycling is a physically demanding activity, clients need to have a reasonable level of fitness and be generally able bodied. We are unable to cater for clients who cannot pass the standard drivers eye sight test (The ability to read a number plate from 20.5m). Deaf clients are welcome at Rider’s Edge, however we can only safely cater for those that are able to lip read.

Individuals who have limbs in plaster or need the support of crutches or other walking aids cannot be accommodated safely at Rider’s Edge. Our motorcycles are standard and as such are not suitable for clients who need modified controls to ride. All Clients receiving medication or treatment for any ailment or disability should disclose this fact to Rider’s Edge at the time of course booking. It is also crucial that you disclose the details of any allergies you may suffer from such as anaphylaxis due to food products, bee stings or other such stimuli. If you have had your licence revoked for medical reasons you will be unable to participate in any of the courses at Rider’s Edge, even those intended for non-licence holders.

If you do not hold a photo card licence, we require you to bring a valid passport. All licences will be checked at the centre and undisclosed offences could jeopardise your right to participate.

FACILITIES
Due to the nature of the Royal Welsh Showground, occasionally access to some of the facilities offered may be restricted. In this case suitable alternative facilities will be provided.

ADVERSE WEATHER
Weather conditions are beyond our control and therefore we are unable to accept any responsibility for disruption or financial loss caused due to adverse weather conditions however so caused. Whenever possible we utilise indoor training areas to continue training until the conditions have improved and outdoor training can resume as normal.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
We operate a strict no alcohol or drugs policy. We reserve the right to administer random breath tests; failure to provide a specimen of breath or failing the test will automatically bar the client from being involved in practical riding activities. Clients who appear to be unfit through drugs, prescribed or otherwise, will be barred from riding; the instructor’s opinion on this matter is final. Clients taking prescribed medication should ensure that side effects are not likely to inhibit their ability to operate a motorcycle safely.

MOTORCYCLE SUITABILITY
At each stage of your training, you and your instructor will agree on the safest motorcycle for your development. The instructor’s right to veto any particular selection will be made solely on the grounds of safety – the instructor’s decision is always final. On direct access courses, safety constraints may dictate that certain students should take a light bike test rather than the big bike test. If you wish to discuss this issue in more detail, please call the Rider’s Edge centre prior to booking your course.

CANCELLATIONS
Please note we operate a strict cancellation policy. The minimum cancellation / re-arrangement fee for any course is 25% or £100 whichever is greater. A fee of 50% is payable for all cancellations or re-arrangements made within 28 days of the first day of the course and 75% within 7 days. All courses cancelled or re-arranged within 48 hrs will be charged in full.

DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY
On rare occasions the Driving Standards Agency may re-arrange or cancel motorcycle tests at short notice we shall endeavour to give students maximum warning of such eventualities. These changes are out of our control and we are unable to accept any liability for losses incurred by such changes. This does not affect your right to claim compensation from the DSA directly.
