Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson Factory Team rider Kenny Coolbeth has been racing – and winning – on motorcycles since he was five years old. The 33-year-old Connecticut native is a third-generation motorcycle racer and has been a member of the Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson flat track team since 2006.
Coolbeth is a three-time Grand National Champion riding for the Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson Factory Team (2006-2008). In 2012 Coolbeth finished the Grand National season in seventh place, with wins at Knoxville, Iowa, and Pomona, Calif. Both wins came after Coolbeth recovered from a leg fracture suffered at the Lima, Ohio, race, which caused the Harley rider to miss two races in the middle of the season.
Coolbeth has 28 wins in eight seasons of racing at the Grand National level. He was named the AMA Flat Track Rookie of the Year in 1994, and began a steady climb up the ranks in Grand National competition. He won his first Grand National race in 2002.
Coolbeth once worked construction jobs between races, but now races full-time for a living, training between events on both flat-track and motocross motorcycles. During the long New England winters, ice racing on local ponds keeps his skills sharp.
“Riding for the Harley-Davidson Factory Team is still the best opportunity in the sport,” said Coolbeth. “They give me excellent equipment and put me in position to win the championship every season. This team has produced so many Grand National champions over the years, I feel like all those great riders are with me every time I zip up the factory leathers.”
