THE WHAT:What is it like to ride a coast-to-coast on a 1914 Harley-Davidson® motorcycle in 2010? Over 16 days in September, Bill Rodencal, Harley-Davidson Museum Motorcycle Restorer/Conservator, will join 70 other antique motorcycle racers from Kitty Hawk, NC, to Santa Monica, CA. Bill will share the stories of his amazing adventures riding across the country at a top speed of 25 mph. Hosted by Jim Fricke, Curatorial Director, the program will feature Bill's photographs of his experience, the people and places of this amazing race. THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:Friday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m (subject to change) $8 per person for Museum Members, $10 per person for non-Members  
 THE WHAT:
The Steel Toe Tour gives you a chance to learn Harley-Davidson® history and get up-close and personal with V-Twin engine manufacturing. Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s 849,000 square-foot Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin is home of the “Big Twin.” Pilgrim Road employees produce engines and transmissions for the final assembly plants in York, Pennsylvania and Kansas City, Missouri for Touring, Softail® and Dyna® model families. Engines and transmissions are also produced for sale through Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories business. The Steel Toe Tour package includes one ticket to the Harley-Davidson Museum® where you’ll get a glimpse of history and culture like you’ve never seen it before – including the must-see Engine Room. The package also includes a shuttle ride from the Museum to the Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility, where you’ll walk the factory floor and learn how an engine is assembled. See the assembly line, powder coat process, cold testing and steel and aluminum machining. This tour is not for the faint of heart – at Pilgrim Road, safety goggles and steel toe shoes are required! Tour Schedule: Two tour times are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:00 AM and 12:15 PM. Duration for each tour time is three hours. Tours depart from the Harley-Davidson Museum, located on 6th and Canal Streets in downtown Milwaukee.
Upon returning to the Harley-Davidson Museum, enjoy a self-guided tour of the Museum. Cost:

THE WHO:THE WHAT:Harley-Davidson Museum Shop Class is a series of classes taught by Harley-Davidson University (HDU) instructors. For the first time, the public has a chance to learn from the experts at HDU, Harley-Davidson Motor Company's official school for dealership mechanics. Participants earn one "Shop Class" patch and then a rocker for each class they complete. Shop Class: Motorcycle MaintenanceMotorcycle maintenance is important for all riders to know. During this one day class, you will be trained on how to perform a quick, overall safety inspection before riding. Learn how to check your oil, brakes, battery, and tires. Also covered: vehicle storage, pressure washer usage and new motorcycle break-in. THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:August 21 and September 11 at 9AM

Class size limited to 25 attendees.  Shop Class: Electrical and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI)In this one-day class the Electrical and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Shop Class will provide a basic understanding of the electrical system of a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle, including the various sensors and motors and how they function with different computers on your motorcycle. You will learn about EFI and the function of the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Harley-Davidson University Technical Instructors will also help you understand what Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) should feel like and what is happening when the brakes are engaged. THE WHAT:Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Harley-Davidson Museum? What are some of the artifacts, vehicles, and stories still in boxes back in the storage areas? Come and find out on a special guided tour that offers in-depth explanations of selected Museum exhibits and provides a glimpse into the private areas of the Harley-Davidson Archives. THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:Wednesdays and Fridays at 10AM and 1PM (subject to change) $20 per person (in addition to Museum admission)
Tour groups limited to 15 visitors  
 THE WHO:THE WHAT:Fun activities built just for kids to interact with the history, art, science and culture of motorcycles, America and Harley-Davidson.
Activities include: - Story Time at 11AM and 2PM. Kids can gather round as our Museum story teller reads a book. Then the story comes alive as we venture into the Museum and spotlight an artifact.
- Temporary tattoos and a do-it-yourself activity.
- Both Museum restaurants - Motor® Bar & Restaurant and Cafe Racer® - feature a special Kids Menu. Kids can get their favorite temporary tattoo and receive a special treat with their meal.
Come see Glory, our new feathered ambassador, during Family Days at the Museum beginning Sunday, May 2nd. Staff from the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center will be on hand to teach you about Bald Eagles and answer any questions you have about Glory – you can even get your photo taken with him! THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:Every Sunday is Family Day at the H-D Museum.

THE WHAT:The Road Pack will be available for families to "check out" at the start of the tour and includes tips to help families make the most of their visit. This road pack includes activities for parents and kids to complete while exploring the Museum exhibits. - Imagination Station - This new area within the Musueum gives kids a chance to dress up and pretend to ride their own bike, complete with sounds and lights. Books, cartoons and games round out the fun.
- Motorcycle Scavenger Hunt - Break the secret code and win a prize!
- Engine Maze- Visit the engine room and learn about the Harley-Davidson engines, then find your way through the engine maze.

THE WHAT:If you simply want to relax, hang out on the grounds and visit with friends and family, then be sure to get into a game of "Bags." Okay, okay, some of you may call it "bean bags", or "cornhole", either way you’ll call it a load of fun. This is a FREE activity so don’t be shy. THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:Look for the bags at the Southeast Yard when Mother Nature permits. It’ll be a great excuse to return to the Museum and hang out, compete, socialize and hang with others who share the passion for not only the grand old game that is BAGS, but for bikes in general. 
THE WHO:THE WHAT:Tour packages include a Museum admission, guided or audio tour, $10 Museum gift card, and a souvenir. THE WHERE, WHEN & HOW:Packages are available every Tuesday in the Museum Lobby for $25 per person. |
