“Chill” Out at the Harley-Davidson Museum

Posted on Thursday, Jan 22, 2009 by Ryann Greve

Think that a little (okay, a LOT of) cold and snow is going to slow things down at the Harley-Davidson Museum?

Think again.

We’ve got a “Winter Chillabration” going on - here’s what’s hot at the Museum while the weather’s cold.

XR1200 Snow Sculpture
To welcome the newest Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the XR1200, a team of snow sculptors will be creating an giant ice-and-snow version of the XR1200 on the Museum grounds over a three-day period starting at noon on Saturday, January 24. Milwaukee’s own Tom Queoff captains the USA Snow Sculpting Team and is lending his talents to capture a Harley-Davidson motorcycle like it’s never been done before. The sculpture will be up as long as Old Man Winter allows.

Nightster® Motorcycle Sweepstakes
If that doesn’t satisfy your Sportster® jones, you can enter for a chance to win a new Nightster® motorcycle starting January 24 through February 26. Be sure to join us for the drawing at Motor on March 5 during our Thirsty Thursdays happy hour from 3:00 to 9:00pm.

XR1200 Display
And in the Museum lobby starting January 24 through the month of February, you can learn about the inspiration behind the XR1200 with a special display featuring the new XR1200 and its predecessor, the XR750, straight from the Harley-Davidson Museum collection. And in the Museum, you can take a scavenger hunt for all things Sportster® inside the Museum for a special prize, so stop by the Museum before we run out of prizes for you Sportster hunters out there.

Visiting the Museum during the 105th Anniversary was truely the highlight of my trip. Having travelled from Melbourne, Australia I had only read and admired from afar each stage of the building construction so to finally see up close and marvel at the absolute perfect structure given the history of Harley Davidson, it couldnt have been more perfect. Congratulations to all involved. BUT NOW, could you please, please set up an online store so that overseas fanatics of vintage Harley Davidson can enjoy the products that are on offer, it is so frustrating seeing but not being able to purchase. Thank you so much and once again, keep doing what you are doing, its perfect!
