After spending over $300.00 parts and labor on this and a Saddlebag Relocation kit for my brand new 2016 Heritage Softail Classic, I have had nothing but trouble trying to get the locks to work correctly. After searching the internet, I found this is a common problem when used on softside saddlebags. I took the bike to the dealer, and they consulted hd customer care. Their solution was to try another kit, part # 88373-10A for another $139.00, minus a 15% dealer discount, which "MAY" fix the problem. The kit fits 00-15, not my 2016. I am very dissatisfied.with this lock kit. If I would have known that this kit didn't work correctly, I definitely would not have wasted more than $300.00 and counting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tokey Great locks! Glad to have them.
They definitely give me a piece of mind and are very sturdy and work perfectly. I installed this on the front of my leather hard shell saddle bags and they work exactly like I thought they would. You do have to take maybe 1 more second when closing your bags though to make sure the lock slides into its female hole, but other than that, once installed, they work great.
Installation was a little bit more of a pain than I anticipated. The other reviewer is correct though, there isn't a way to put these through TWO layers of leather. I had a very difficult time even with one layer. So when installing, make sure you install in the correct location where you only have one layer of leather on the lid lock. For the inside though, I was able to drill through both the leather and the hard shell and install the female part rather easily.
When drilling, ESPECIALLY with the spade bit, make sure you go SUPER slow and let the bit do the work, otherwise you are going to have frayed leather which is difficult to work with. Going slow (the second bag I did) really did the trick. Also, when drilling both the screw holes and the spade, do NOT be afraid to wiggle the bit around to bore out the holes some more, it will REALLLLLLLY help when you do the install. And all the holes are covered up with the mounting plates, so you don't have to worry about it looking bad.
All in all, installation took me about 30 minutes, not including reading the instructions fully before starting.
Again, would definitely buy this again, especially since it was only 10 bucks more to have them keyed to my ignition keys. No need for the extra sets. Took about a week to get them from my dealer.

I installed this on my new harley saddlebags 90133-06b. On the saddlebag lid side, the screws are only long enough to handle one layer of leather in the sandwich. On my bags I installed the lid side in an area of the lid that had 2layers of leather in the sandwich. since the holes were alreadybdrilled in the lid, there was no turning back. Therefore, i had to separate the two layers of leather to tighten the nuts onto the threaded bolts. I now have a permanent bump on the backside of my saddlebag lid around the lock. On the bag side, the studs were so long that they were protruding into the saddlebag and catching on my gear inside (high risk of tearing fabric gear inside the saddlebag). To address this problem, i used a hack saw to cut off the excess length of the bolts on the bag side. It was almost as if the bolt length were designed forntwo layersnof leather in the sandwich. I wish the lid side of the locksnhad the longer bolts and the bag side of the locks had the shorter bolts.
