The correct riding position can help a tall rider sit comfortably on the bike, and avoid leg cramps and back strain during a long day in the saddle. For riders with a longer inseam, a Tallboy® Seat will put you on the road to fatigue-free riding.

  • Moves the rider back 1.5" from the stock seating position to provide much-needed arm and leg room for the long-limbed rider
  • Eliminates the "knees-high" riding position, and effectively places the body for a natural arm and leg reach to the controls
  • Seat height is similar to stock
  • Slight bucket shape offers additional lower back support
  • A wide seating surface reduces pressure on the tailbone
  • Passenger comfort will be maximized with the Tour-Pak® Luggage mounted in the rearmost position
  • Accepts Rider Backrest Kits, except adjustable style (sold separately)

Rated 1 out of 5 by TALL RIDERS...KEEP LOOKING When I took delivery of my 2016 Tri Glide, I knew from showroom trials that the stock seat would not allow any comfort for my 6'6" frame. After an hour in the dealership, trying every seat available for the trike, with the exception of the "out of stock" Road Zep, I went with the TALLBOY SEAT and fixed backrest. It does provide about 2" of seat length, but after 30 minutes on the trike the seat wants to push me forward and my butt is numb. Now I'm out close to $500.00 with the seat, backrest and non-adjustable mount. If you are thinking of a Tri Glide purchase and are over 6'3" I'm afraid Harley has nothing to offer. Save your money and don't be fooled by the TALLBOY designation! April 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for me! I'm 6'1" and have a 2015 Ultra Limited. With the stock seat I felt like I was sitting on the tank and when going to shift after my hip would lock up and it was extremely painful. I adjusted my shift levers and that helped a bit with the hip pain, but that was it. After reading reviews and talking with Andy in the parts department at Gail's Harley Davidson, he also suggested the Hammock seat. He had both in stock so we went out to the parking lot to try them out. My wife was with me as well so I could make sure she was comfortable. While the Hammock seat felt better than the stock seat, I still felt like I was sitting on the tank. He put the Tallboy on and I got on the bike. It was like night and day! Then I had my wife get on, and she loved it as well. She lost some space, but she actually like it as it put me closer to her, which she liked as I would block more wind. She's the type that gets cold in 60 degree riding weather. LOL We ended up putting around 180 miles on it after buying the seat yesterday and I have no complaints at all thus far. It's not a huge change as you can see by the description, but it's just enough. It is a much more "natural" feeling riding now. March 6, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by not for the long haul I have had this seat for a year or so on my 2014 ultra FLHTK my wife hates it. During long rides 150 or more my legs get numb I also get pain in my back pockets if you know what I mean. I am now looking at the Road Zeppelin The stock seat I felt to close, felt like I was sitting on the tank as I am 5'11". The seat needs some gel or better padding,However it does push the rider back away from the tank if you are the taller rider looking for this fit. March 1, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good fit but bloody uncomfortable! I rode this seat for a few months but found it extremely uncomfortable for long rides and ultimately put my stock seat back on. I do a lot of 2-up touring and generally ride around 10k miles per year. The Tallboy has very thin padding compared to the stocker and has a dished out shape which creates painful pressure points on my butt under both back pockets. My old lady is no fan of it either and was thrilled to see the stock seat again as well! The extra room was nice, I loved having the extra leg room for my six-two frame, but I just couldn't take the pain! For me, to use it again, i'd have to send it out to a seatmaker/upholstery guy and have the shape flattened out and about 3" of foam added before I could use it comfortably. For now, I've just become accustomed to being cramped a bit with the stock seat! December 4, 2015

Rider backrest for tall boy on freewheeler

I have a 2016 freewheeler and purchased a tallboy seat when I bought it. I've been on this website and I also talk to the dealer and there's a lot of confusion about what backrest and what backrest attachment kit fits the freewheeler.

Can you help me. I'd like to know which backrest fifts the tallboy seat and which attachment kit goes with it.

The HD catalog booklet in this website differ on whether I'm adjustable backrest would fit.

Please give me the numbers so I order the right parts.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Bgilland,

Unfortunately, we neither have access to this information nor can we discuss future products. If you would like Harley-Davidson to manufacture a Tallboy seat for a 2015 FLRT, the best way to get your idea heard is to:

Go to www.h-d.com > Contact Us > IDEAS FOR HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTOR COMPANY > Idea Submission Instructions

Thank you for your question.

Answer:
Hi Eclipsega2,

The Adjustable Rider Backrest kit is not compatible with the Tallboy Seat, but you can add a Rider Backrest. You would need to select a Rider Backrest compatible with the Rider Backrest Mounting kit P/N 52589-09A.

Thank you for your question.

I recently test rode a ultra limited low and would like to know what the seat height would be with a tallboy seat? That was the most desired of the three I tried, I tried the stock one and the sundowner. what other seat could I try to acheive the same height as the stock seat?

I'm a 6'4" rider so I opted to purchase this seat when I bought my new Road King. The dealer installed the seat but handed me the old seat with the old strap and new strap for self-installation. When I swapped out the straps on the hardware and began to put it back together I find that the new strap is way too long imo for the passenger seat height. In the pictures it looks nice and taunt across the seat, my experience is that it is very sloppy with easily an extra inch or two that needs to be removed. I just wondered if this is by design or are you supposed to cut this down and create a new hole for the mounting harness?
