Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! This is a must have for all 1200 sportsters. This is a good product and produces 15-20% horsepower gains. April 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by More torque for sure I added the SE Stage 1 A/C to my 48 right before my 5000 mi service and included the ECM reflash as part of the 5000 mi service. Oh Wow, what a difference. The bike really pulls hard on the medium to low revs and can zip me past the other freeway cars when I need it. I later added the SE slip-on mufflers and the combo is fantastic. H-D should just sell Sportsters with these as stock OEM equipment... October 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stage One makes a difference! I bought my Sportster, a 2007 XL-50 bran-new in Sept. 2012, one year ago! it has only 3 (three) miles on it and had been on display since new at the dealers clothing store annex, I just happened to come by the dealer when they decided to sell it at the right time and bought it that day! I also had the Stage I kit installed and the upgrade download done just 2 weeks after purchase, as I wanted to "break in" the bike first, and after 500 mile in the 1st week, I believe I did the right thing, as the bike, with the "new tune" runs a LOT better! I do not know about the 7000rpm's yet, but the bike has more power everywhere! and I am most pleased with the Stage I kit! and would advise anyone to consider doing the same! October 24, 2013

Answer:
My understanding is that there is a download available through the dealership that is applied to the factory ecm which changes the baseline for proper AFR (air fuel ratio) adjustments and max rpm. There is a fee for this along with the cost of the stage 1 air kit.

Both the air cleaner kit and upgraded exhaust kits require recalibration according to product descriptions. If both air cleaner AND exhaust kits are installed at the same time which recalibration gets used?
