There is simple and there is hard. After reading the reviews on this product, I followed the advice of others and simply undid the forward roll bar, installed the bag chrome, tightened everything back up and both sides installed in less than a 1/2 hr. Chrome is excellent quality and nothing beats chrome for Christmas!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JCurry10 Great product but instructions difficult to follow
I read all the reviews before attempting this install. I thought how hard could it be, right. First of all the Instructions are not much help. You cannot get the rails past the shock on the right side without removing the shock which I did not want to do. I removed the two small set screws on the right side rail but still had a problem. I then removed the seat (1 screw) and then removed the Saddlebag guard at the front of the Saddlebag (2 screws). Once I did that it installed without a problem. On the other side I did not have to take the rail apart, I only had to loosen the screws holding the front saddlebag support and the rail went right in. All in all, I spent about 2 hours installing them. Knowing what I know now I could do both sides in 1/2 hour. The quality of the rails is superb and very well made. Definitely not just for show but will provide protection is you every drop your bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gskinny16 Great bike protection.
Great protection against dents and scratches from tip-overs or getting to close to things. Cheaper than the costs of replacing a saddle bag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by RJrider Good Product, poor installation instructions
It is impossible to install this kit according to the directions provided.
You MUST remove the forward attachment hardware from the new rails to route them thru the existing rear saddlebag attachment hardware.
Do not remove the shocks, as an alternative.
The quality of the chrome, however, is outstanding.
