Rated 2 out of 5 by RJrider Good Product, poor installation instructions
It is impossible to install this kit according to the directions provided.
You MUST remove the forward attachment hardware from the new rails to route them thru the existing rear saddlebag attachment hardware.
Do not remove the shocks, as an alternative.
The quality of the chrome, however, is outstanding.

I'm so glad I read the reviews before I started to install these guards. Taking the front end pieces off made these a snap to install. I imagine you'd have to remove the shocks to get them on otherwise. I used a 3/16" Craftsman T-handle allen wrench to remove the set screws (2) that hold the ends on. I didn't need any heat or much elbow grease to get them out. I threw towels over the mufflers and read fender to make sure nothing got scratched. I left the bubble wrap and plastic on the guards while I fed them through the openings with no problems. Slip them through, put the ends back on (remembering to put some more blue Loctite on the set screws and proceed with the rest of the installation. I put blue Loctite on all the bolts, even the ones that have lock washers because I believe in better safe than sorry. The guards are typical H-D quality and look great all shined up. I'm very happy with this accessory. Again, thanks to all the reviewers who shared about taking the ends off to make the installation go quick and easy. Thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rob175 Beautiful & functional but a trick to install
I'm very happy with the look, the quality and the protection they provide. However, as many others have already said, it's an EASY install IF YOUR REMOVE the end pieces FIRST. But nobody has mentioned that the the four 1" long set screws have blue Loc-Tite on the threads which make it very difficult to unscrew........... So, take my advice, use a small hand held propane torch and heat up the head of the set screw (nice and HOT) in oder to soften the Loc-Tite. Heat works wonders and they will easily unscrew. (before I heated them up I broke one of my Allen wrenchs...LOL
Once the end brackets are removed it becomes a 15 minute (per side) install.......so go for it.

I love the look this adds to my 2016 Road King. Installation was not as easy as I expected, but can be done in your home workshop if you take your time.
