Oil level and temp dipstick (battery installed)
Rated 1.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Piece of Junk Biggest piece of junk sold by HD. 1st one fogged up after riding in rain and stopped working, replaced under warranty. Second one just stopped working, replaced battery still did not work. Next one fogged up after riding in rain and now back light comes on but LCD does not work. Most expensive manual dipstick I ever bought. HD needs to quit selling this item!!!! December 8, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 Junk. Pure and Simple Don't waste your money. Fogged up after the first rainy ride. Then it just stopped working at all. The light comes on but that's all. Just barely outlasted the warranty. November 29, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Doesn't Last My problem is similar to the other reviews. In less than a year, the readout is clouded over and can't tell if it operates. I had a Fat Boy before my present bike and had a similar product for that bike. The dip stick lasted the nine years I had that bike, with only a couple of battery change outs. For $150, I feel this product wasn't a good buy for my Road Glide. October 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I have never written a review before but I'm so mad I just had to! I have a 2013 FLHRC and have purchased 2 of these and owned 4. Every one of them has gone bad. Bought the first one, went bad in less than 6 months. LCD Screen fogged and quit working. HD Dealership replaced it for free. Second one went bad in 4 months. HD Dealership couldn't replace it (company policy). Bought another (after all, how could 3 possibly go bad?). Fogged in 8 months, HD Dealership replaced it for free, 4th went bad in 11 months. My FLHRC was 24k plus another 20k in Genuine HD Parts. But this has been the most time consuming, disappointing experience - ever. Worse yet, threw away the original cap/dipstick, can’t even buy an aftermarket cover now. And HD does not sell a plain chrome cap/dipstick, only the LCD ones. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM - IT'S JUNK. Answer:
I find the cap a little snug at times. The cap has a rubber O-ring inside which tends to be the culprit. I use a large pair of channel locks with a terry wash cloth over the cap to keep from marring the cap. Open the channel locks wide enough to keep the jaws parrell to the sides of the cap. You shouldn't need to squeeze hard. When replacing the cap, use just your fingers, not the channel locks to finger tight.
