Rated 2 out of 5 by Feels like a waste Purchased this from a HD Dealer while I was out one day. Decided to install the speedo myself to save some dough. Went to a differant dealer where I usually have stuff done and they said the kit was incorrect. Imagine my shock, but of course I didn't question because this dealer employ's 1%'er bikers and I don't need that trouble. So I installed it myself, doesn't work for me so now I'm stuck with these expensive parts inside the fuel tank. Not interested in paying another dealer to tell me it's the wrong one even though I purchased through a Harley dealer. April 20, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by works well Too bad even had to buy this product, but that's life. The sensor works good. It was not easy to install. If you don't have quite a bit of experience with tools and have mechanical ability, I strongly suggest you pay someone to do it. After installed, I am so glad I bought it because now I have a fuel gauge and it is awesome. It works really good and is accurate. I really like the feature "miles to empty". So yeah, I recommend this product. April 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product It's finally nice to know the fuel level in my 2011 Iron. Did not have any issues with the install like others have had. Installed the speedometer first, had it in for a few months until I could get the sensor and did not have any issues. July 14, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Beware Ordered for my wife's 2014 Iron 883. Ordered the speedometer about a month before I ordered the sensor, took the sensor to the dealer to have installed (ya I'm lazy) and it took them a week of not knowing why the gas gauge was not registering. They finally found out that you have to install them both at the same time and in a certain order. It did not say this in ANY of their shop manuals or instructions so they were stumped. It took them ordering a whole new speedometer AND fuel sensor to get things finally hooked up and working. It works great now BUT the whole hassle and there not being ANY and I mean ANY reference or warnings about this in any shop manual, catalog, instructions, just nowhere. They confirmed that this was the problem and not any faulty equipment through the manufacturer. So BEWARE if you plan on ordering the speedometer and fuel sensor seperately, DO NOT INSTALL the speedometer until you have the sensor to also install at the same time. HOPE this saves some people some frustration and heartache :) June 13, 2015

Answer:
Hi 01Josh,

I was able to look up the fitment for your 2016 Iron--you do not need a new speedometer; however, this Fuel Level Sensor Kit will only fit '07- later models with a Speed/Tach combo. Please see a local dealership for additional assistance.

Thanks!

sequence of fitment

So, now I am totally confused. One person comments that the fuel sensor must be installed simultaneously with the speedo, and another says they can be installed months apart. What's the correct way to do it?

Answer:
Hey again kevin211,

On a Sportster, you gotta install the fuel sensor first so the speedo can detect it and activate the fuel gauge properly. If not, you'll have issues.

I want to ask a friend in USA to buy the kit and send to me in Brazil by USPS.
So I would know what are the part weight and package dimensions.

I installed both 61200008A and 70900274. 61200008A first and 70900274 second. The fuel gauge shows up when I hold in the trip button for the on and off function but it does not ask me the size of my fuel tank. Then when I turn the key to off and then start the bike my fuel gauge is not on the gauge. I really need some help on this one.

I'm considering adding P/N 70900274 Combination Digital Speedometer/Analog Tachometer to my 2005 XL1200C. The documentation I've found mentions that on the '07 Sportster, you need this Fuel Level Sensor kit in order to get fuel data to the Speedo. The fitment on this product does not indicate that it is compatible with the '05 XL1200C, so I'm assuming that it is not. Is there a product that will get the fuel data to this speedo for the 2004-2006 XL1200C?
