Chisel Extreme Billet Air Cleaner Kit
Sticks out a bit too far but adds a little more zip off the line and looks cool
I replaced a Harley stage 1 kit on my 2001 FLSTFI and came across one surprise. The breather bolts required for this kit MUST be the stock breather bolts (part #29465-99 for a 2001 fuel injected Fatboy) which of course do not come with the kit and which I did not have because I put the stage 1 kit on ten years ago and didn't keep the old breather bolts.
Other irritations for me were the facts that the instruction sheet with the kit says "Items mentioned in text but not included in kit" and it goes on to describe "Item A", Description Breather screw (2) but NO part number. Irritation #2 is the fact the on line description says "all mounting parts included" - true, unless you already have a stage 1 kit installed and can't find the old breather bolts. A note from Harley to that effect and/or including the appropriate breather bolt part number for each bike would be a start.
The new air kit sticks out about 1" - 1 1/2" farther than the stage one kit with flat screw on cover so be aware that your right leg will be rubbing up against the housing cover most of the time. Makes me wonder how long the finish will last with constant leg abrasion.
It's simple to install if you have a stage 1 kit in place - the ECM adjustment was already made for the stage 1. If not, off to the dealer for the ECM adjustment unless you are a computer whiz.
Overall, the kit performs well, it looks cool (black has silver edge highlights) and it adds a little more acceleration off the line - not a lot,
but I noticed the difference.
It took me 30 minutes to run down that part number and another 30 minutes to go to my dealer for the breather bolts that fit a 2001 Fatboy. I can't guarantee that part number will work with your bike so check with your local dealer because the online assistance on that point in non-existent. Good luck!

Just rode home with this.
I had this air cleaner put on by the dealership, along with an exhaust and fuel EFI module. You can hear the air going into the motor, so there is an intake noise. Not obnoxious, just noticeable. Also the air cleaner does stick out further than the stock unit, so I had to make an adjustment due to short legs. It looks really good though, so I have high hopes!
