Product Spotlight:
Turtlezip Reproduction Motorcycle Sweaters
Take home a motorcycle sweater based directly on those from the Harley-Davidson Archives. The Turtlezip sweater was originally introduced to motorcyclists in the 1933 Accessories Catalog. A new concept, it allowed the motorcycle rider to convert the sweater from a V-neck style when unzipped, to the fashionable turtleneck when fully zipped, adding a layer of warmth.
In 1937, the sweaters changed from one solid color to two-tone. At one time, Harley-Davidson offered 128 color combinations because every motorcycle club wanted to have a different color sweater.
Competition Sweaters were introduced for racers in 1939 and featured Harley-Davidson in large felt letters in the front. The black & white sweater become a favorite of riders interested in racing, hill climbs and competitive sports.
Today, these sweaters are proudly made in the U.S.A. right in the original knitting mills that have been in business over the past 92 years. The sweaters are 100% wool and made with the same heavy old-school knit and throwback embroidered techniques.
