    Colleen Swartz: Photographer/Writer/Fabricator

(Born Colleen Rose Curry; May 14, 1969) is a noted motorcycle photographer and writer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Colleen started covering motorcycle events in early 2001 while traveling to rallies across the Midwest. Through networking with editors of motorcycle periodicals, this photojournalistic coverage of events transitioned into photographing bikes and individuals for features.

With dozens of national magazine covers and many more features in both American and European publications, Colleen attained a prominence at the height of the publication era, before the bankruptcy, dissolution and failure of most periodical publications following the financial crisis of 2009.

From 2003 to 2008 Colleen also had a monthly column in Cycle Source Magazine called “From Behind the Lens” which chronicled the travels, work, and challenges of life as a photographer in a male dominated world.

For the past 12 years Colleen has been employed at PCI Group in Milwaukee Wisconsin as a designer and fabricator. PCI creates custom one-off projects ranging from Signs and Trade Show Displays to art and vehicle graphics. The wide range of diversity in projects and the small staff has led to a wild diversification for each and every member of the PCI staff. Colleen works from computer design to large format printing to painting and material finishing to fabrication and assembly.

In 2013 Colleen was named as Executive Director of the BUILD Program, a 501(c) (3) non-profit started in 2011 by The Iron Horse Hotel. BUILD teaches high school aged students trade and life skills through the rebuilding of old motorcycles into AHRMA vintage race bikes. Through the coordination and management of this organization, Colleen is able to provide valuable and much-needed trade and industrial art training to the next generation of workers, a goal that is near and dear to her heart.

Colleen continues to photograph motorcycles for publication; however her focus is now as an independent contractor photographer for vanity shoots, commercial work and personal satisfaction. The teaching and mentoring of new photographers has always been an emphasis of her career.
