Harley-Davidson University

HDU offers the Retailer network a wealth of classes and materials that cover a wide range of topics. Retailer principals and associates have several opportunities each year to develop their skills in many areas including Retail Sales, Finance & Insurance (F&I), Customer Service, Retail Operations, and Technical Training.

Educational opportunities are available via:

  • Regional instructor-led programs
  • Online education management system

Service Training

One of the most important elements of a successful Harley-Davidson® Retail Store is a knowledgeable and professional Service Department. When Customers come to you for service and information, it is critical that skilled technicians be available to perform repairs, tune-ups, and to answer questions. Harley-Davidson University Service School classes, Factory Service School sessions, and in-Store training programs are just a few of the educational opportunities available. We also keep our Retailers on top of the latest changes and repair procedures online, via UltraComm and h-dnet.com. Included there are service bulletins, service letters, and technical tips, just to name a few. For on-the-job service support, our trained staff of service professionals is available to assist you in resolving problems by phone, fax or e-mail.

Consulting Operations

On-site consulting programs are available from Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada for both operational and strategic management development.

Performance Groups

Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada sponsors multiple groups of Retailers who meet three times a year to share best practices and performance metrics.

ULTRACOMM

UltraComm is a secure website that Retailers access with a user ID and password. This Internet-based communications tool allows you to interact with Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada and conduct a variety of business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Retailer Management System

An MS-Windows-certified Retailer Management System (FCI DealerVu) that is the basis for a number of Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada initiatives and programs. It is performance metrics based, providing Retailers with the benefits of supply chain integration and enhanced decision-making.

Retail Environment Group

The Retail Environment Group helps our Retailers with their building and remodelling plans, creating profitable and highly functional floor plans and displays. This group provides hands-on assistance, materials, and educational opportunities that attract Customers and drive sales.

Retail Marketing Programs and Tools

We help generate traffic for our Retailers by combining our national advertising and marketing programs with point-of-purchase displays and other promotional items for your Retail Store. A co-op marketing program, direct mail promotions, and ad planners are also offered. Each new model year, Deeley Harley-Davidson® Canada gears up its Retail Stores with an open house event and other event-based marketing programs. These activities are loaded with promotional ideas and tools to drive traffic to Retailer locations. Other national promotions also drive the Harley-Davidson® Brand. We participate in motorcycle shows, rallies, races, and other high-profile events. We also provide the Test Our Metal Demo fleet to Retailers and major events across the country throughout the riding season.
