The Harley-Davidson Museum®
Legends & Lakes Road Tour
The latest Harley-Davidson Museum® tour proves that not all who wander are lost.
Kicking off with a visit to the Henry Ford Museum and ending with a police escort onto the Harley-Davidson Museum® campus, the Legends and Lakes Road Tour gave a few lucky customers the opportunity to rub elbows with Bill Davidson, take in some of the unique attractions found in Michigan and Wisconsin, and, of course, enjoy the personal freedom that can only be found by riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The international group, including customers from Mexico and as far away as the United Kingdom, kicked off the 6-day, 5-night tour with a welcome banquet at the historic Eagle Tavern at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, where an authentic 19th-century style meal included wild mushrooms, venison, pork pie, roasted turkey and buttermilk cake with raspberry sauce. From there, the group set out on the highways and byways of the Wolverine State. Some of the highlights there included an ice-cream stop in Hell (a town in Michigan … really), a visit to the Silversides Submarine Museum where Bill Davidson got to fire up the submarine’s engines, the opportunity to stop at local Harley-Davidson dealers, along with some much-needed recuperation and refreshments on the beaches of Lake Michigan come nightfall.
After crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, the Legends and Lakes Tour kept making once-in-a-lifetime memories as customers were invited to take part in a traditional tribal dance with the Menominee Indians at the Menominee Casino Resort and Logging Museum. As the trip continued to make its way to Milwaukee, many were thrilled when they were given the opportunity to take a few laps on their Harley-Davidsons around the Milwaukee Mile racetrack. Arriving “home” in Milwaukee didn’t mean the fun stopped. After being escorted to the Museum campus by Milwaukee’s finest, riders swapped stories of their travels at a VIP reception during the kickoff to the Milwaukee Rally and Custom Bike Show weekend. The final day’s highlights included a curator-led tour through the Willie G. Davidson exhibit and the chance to take a (test ride) spin on Project LiveWire™, Harley-Davidson’s electric bike. Many participants extended their stay and kept the good times rolling by taking in the sights and sounds of Custom Bike Show weekend at the Harley-Davidson Museum®.
Our next legendary tour is already in the works. Stay tuned for details.
