Take a nostalgic journey through the highways and byways of bygone American culture. This three-part series includes talks by noted experts, a walking tour of the American Road exhibit, and complimentary tastes from the road served up by MOTOR® Bar & Restaurant. Held in a special event space within The American Road exhibit, these memorable evenings will inspire you to take to the highway and rediscover the glory of America. Event price includes admission to the Museum.

American Classic Diners, June 13, 5 p.m.
Richard Gutman, Director and Curator of the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, author ofAmerican Diner and American Diner, Then and Now, speaks on the history, architecture, menus, and the appeal of this uniquely American creation.

Cash bar: Featuring Drink Specials, Old Fashioned and House Made Sodas.
Complimentary small bites menu to include: Mini Meatloaf Sundaes, Tomato Soup Shooters, Frito Pies, & Mini Banana Splits.

American Roadside Attractions, July 26, 5 p.m.
Jeff Kunkle, cofounder of Vintage Roadside in Portland, Oregon, speaks on “The American Road: Past and Present” and shares vintage commercial images of roadside attractions and images of landmarks still in existence.

Route 66, August 23, 5 p.m.
Photographer Tom Ferderbar, who studied with Ansel Adams, shares his images of Route 66 from 1947 to the present. Ferderbar’s work is in the Ansel and Virginia Adams collection at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona at Tucson and the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
