“Uncle Sam’s Choice” during WWI, the FUS has a 61ci engine with three-speed transmission that puts out 16hp. It also has a magneto ignition and acetylene headlight. The tank for fuel for the lamp is mounted on the handlebars. The flat olive drab paint was simpler that the civilian models of the time because it didn’t feature pinstriping. The fender is flatter than on the civilian models to prevent mud build-up between the tire and fender. A total of 7521 Model FUS were built for the US government in 1919.
This vehicle is currently on display in the Museum as part of the upstairs Motorcycle Gallery.
