Harley-Davidson Motor Company's 849,000 square-foot Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, is home of the "Big Twin." Pilgrim Road employees produce engines and transmissions for the final assembly plants in York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas City, Missouri, for Touring, Softail,® Dyna® and Sportster® model families. Engines and transmissions are also produced for sale through Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories business.


The Standard Factory Tour offers a view of the assembly line and designated machining areas.

Note: Due to production changes, there will be no Steel Toe Tours on the following dates. Free tour options will still be available. The Tour Center including the gift shop will remain open during these times.

Free Factory Tour

The free factory tour offers a video and insight into designated machining areas contributing to the assembly of H-D engines and transmissions. Tours are offered Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. 


Tours begin at regular intervals between 9AM - 2PM on Mondays


• Free tours begin at regular intervals between the hours of 9:00 am – 1:30 pm on Monday - Friday. Tickets are distributed on a first come, first served basis for available tours. It is recommended that you arrive early in the day. Tour schedule and route are subject to change.

• Reservations for 10 or more are required. Call 877-883-1450.

• Free factory tours begin at the Pilgrim Road facility.

• The Gift Shop is open 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday - Friday. 


Steel Toe Tour

The Steel Toe Tour gives you a chance to experience Harley-Davidson history and get up-close and personal with the assembly line, powder coat process, cold testing, and steel and aluminum machining. The Pilgrim Road Steel Toe Tour experience includes admission to the Harley-Davidson Museum® and  transportation from the Museum to the Pilgrim Road factory.


The Steel Toe Tour goes behind-the-scenes through areas previously unseen by the public. You will be required to wear a safety vest, safety glasses, and steel toe protection, all of which are provided.


Steel Toe Tour Admission Includes:
• Tour ticket and H-D Museum ticket
• Commemorative pin
• Group photo
• Transportation to/from H-D Museum to factory

Tour Schedule:
Two sessions are offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning at 9:15 am and 12:30 pm May-September. Two sessions are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:15 am and 12:30 pm October-April. Tour schedule and route are subject to change.


Two Steel Toe Tours Sessions Offered - 9:30am & 12pm, Monday - Friday


Regular: $46.00
HOG Members: $32 (HOG Members receive free Museum admission as a benefit of their Membership)
Groups of 15 or more: $40.00

2016 Closure Dates
Tour operations will be closed on the following dates in 2016: November 24-25, December 26-30.


Manufacturing requirements have changed and we are unable to guarantee a Steel Toe tour on these dates: October 24-28, November 21-23 and December 19-23. Modified, free plant tours will be available.


Bags or packages such as backpacks, luggage and camera bags are not allowed in the factory.


  • Cameras or recording devices are not allowed in the plant. Photography is permitted in the Tour Center.

  • Fully enclosed, low-heeled (one inch or less) shoes are required.

  • Children under the age of 12 are welcome in the Tour Center, but are not allowed on the factory tour. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
