Discover & Experience More the Harley-Davidson way

Oxford (September 26, 2014) - To discover more, you need to experience more. With this in mind, Harley-Davidson UK invited 40 full-licence motorcyclists, none of whom had ridden for distance or owned a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle before, to try out the latest range of Touring bikes for themselves as part of its Discover More Experience Days…

Over the weekend of 6-7 and 13-14 September, Harley-Davidson UK assembled a fleet of bikes from its Touring range at two hotels in readiness for ten invited riders per day to ride a 180-mile course. The first weekend saw the grandeur of Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, Bath in Somerset play host and the attending riders were of all ages and riding abilities.

The choice of bikes available to ride throughout the next seven hours consisted of the latest Project Rushmore Touring machines, from the sublime Electra Glide® Ultra Limited to the iconic Road King® Classic. Each rider could also swap their machine for another at any of the three rest stops throughout the day. This was the same procedure for second weekend held at QHotel’s Crewe Hall hotel in Cheshire.

Before the groups set off for a day’s ride through the South Wales valleys or Derbyshire’s Peak District, each rider was interviewed in front of a camera. One of the questions was for them to explain their thoughts on Harley-Davidson® bikes; what were their preconceptions? The same riders where then interviewed again at the end of the day’s riding. Forty riders, 40 answers…

It was a brave decision for Harley-Davidson UK to assemble a group of ‘competitor’ riders en masse, because it is all too aware that some people have preconceptions about what a modern Harley® motorcycle is like to ride.

And the resulting words of opinion were? You’ll have to wait and see! The video recordings taken during each of the four riding days will be debuted at this year’s Motorcycle Live NEC show on 22-30 November – more details to follow in next month’s e-zine.
