Oxford (May 14, 2014) - Customer Experience Manager, UK & Ireland, Marjorie Rae, has just completed the Ironhog Challenge, the first female rider to do so in the first group to complete it in 2014. Accompanied by challenge creators and Hogsback Chapter members Robin Seymour and Axel Thill, Toby Sleeman, DP at Guildford Harley-Davidson (Hogsback Chapter’s sponsoring dealer), three other Hogsback Chapter riders, and a rider who travelled all the way from Jersey to join them, the group visited all 28 mainland UK H-D dealers, including the mandatory dealerships: Edinburgh, Maidstone, Plymouth and Swansea over the weekend of 1-3 May, racking up a total of more than 1,800 miles!
Marj said: “I didn’t know what I was getting into when I accepted the invitation to participate. I just wanted to be able to say ‘I did it’. And now I can! Riding in all conditions, day and night, cold and hot, under sunny skies, through rain and fog, through traffic and then none, winding roads and motorways, over high elevations and bridges over the sea, it was not just a test of endurance but of capability and character. It was an experience that I will always remember.”
Many people followed the group’s progress on the GPS-based www.back2youtracking.com website which allowed their progress to be tracked in real time. Some used this to time meeting and greeting the group along the way. Dealers provided encouraging words and those stops were welcome comfort breaks.
The basic rules of the challenge are:
- Visit as many mainland UK H-D dealerships as you can within 48 hours.
- Start and finish at the same H-D dealership.
- Visit these four dealerships: Edinburgh, Swansea, Plymouth, Maidstone.
- For each dealership visited an additional 30 minutes is added to the time allowed to complete the challenge, so the more dealerships you visit, the more time you have to complete it.
