Oxford (08 July 2013) - The AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building took place at Beaulieu last month and as usual, there were hundreds of stunning custom bikes on show.
Richard Fell of RF Custom Cycles in Fordingbridge, Hampshire wowed the judges with his custom XR750 Flat Tracker, winning a trip to the Grand Finals of the World Championship in Essen, Germany in May 2014. In addition, Richard walked away with a £1,000 prize – all courtesy of Harley-Davidson UK.
Having owned Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles for more than 23 years, Richard has always had a penchant for custom bikes and cars. “I entered the competition last year with my lightly modified Anniversary V-Rod® in the Daily Ride Category,” he explains. “I live close to the event and was inspired to build something myself for the year after. The XR750 was an easy choice for me as I am a Harley XR750 nut, especially the early 1970s bikes.”
Apart from the trip to Essen for the finals, Richard’s customising journey isn’t ending with his current project, as he plans to do more, and not in the too-distant future…
“My two sons want me to build something inspired by the Dukes of Hazard series so I have several ideas to work on,” he continues. “I’m hoping to have something ready to enter alongside the XR750 Tribute Tracker in the AMD World Championship Finals.”
