Oxford (04 April 2013) - If you don’t have time for a two-week motorcycle holiday this year, but are still keen to experience the thrill of a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle tour, consider renting a bike for a long weekend. With two Bank Holidays to look forward to next month, there’s never been a better time to pack a bag, get on a bike and visit some of the best locations the UK and Ireland have to offer.
From the rolling countryside of the Emerald Isle to the picturesque beaches of the south coast, it’s easy to explore the UK on two wheels. Harley-Davidson provides rental bikes from 11 of its authorised dealerships across the UK, including Belfast Harley-Davidson, which is currently the only Harley-Davidson rental dealership in Northern Ireland and Ireland. To find an authorised rental dealer, check availability and make a reservation on-line click here
Renting a motorcycle in the location you wish to visit takes a lot of the stress out of a two-wheel trip. No need to worry about catching ferries, or even whether you have relevant insurance cover, as the dealership will take care of it all. Whether you’ve always wanted to try a Harley, or if you’re travelling on business and wish to explore more of your destination on two wheels between meetings, simply visit your nearest Harley-Davidson authorised rental dealership and we’ll organise everything for you – just be sure to bring your licence!
Our favourite weekend breaks
Just for the craic!
If ever you needed an excuse to visit Ireland, don’t miss the seventh annual Ireland BikeFest in Killarney on 31 May-3 June. The event is located on the southwest tip of the country, among the picturesque lush and rolling landscapes of County Kerry. Bike-friendly roads make exploring the region a must, but there’s no reason why you can’t explore a little further afield too…
Some of the UK’s best biking roads can be found in the Peak District, including the circular Ashbourne to the High Peak and back. If you’re a fan of bends and lots of great scenery, make sure this is on your to-do list this Bank Holiday!
In search of the Loch Ness Monster!
A whistle-stop tour of Scotland on two-wheels wouldn’t be complete without a blast on the A82 – a biker’s dream road sweeping between Glasgow and Inverness. Taking in Loch Lomond, through Glencoe and past Loch Ness to Forts William and Augustus, don’t forget to take a camera in case you spot the infamous Loch Ness Monster! There are plenty of well-equipped B&Bs, hotels and campsites along the way too.
Croeso i Wales!
Picturesque Wales has some of the best countryside and bike-friendly roads, including the A542 Horseshoe Pass, in the north of the country. If you’re planning a weekend in Wales, consider staying on the Welsh border in a rural retreat in Whitbourne, Worcestershire, for a little bit of added luxury. Owners of the beautiful Georgian properties, Clifford and Gilly, are offering all H.O.G.® members 15% off their stay. The buildings, including The Barn, the Potting Shed, The Coach House and the Olde Rectory itself, are stunning and the property offers the perfect base for bikers on tour. H.O.G. members can access this exclusive offer via this link: http://hogeuropegallery.co.uk/log-in/. Check out the website at www.olde-rectory.co.uk.
Gilly and Clifford also offered a four-day midweek break at the luxury retreat as a prize to H.O.G. members and Ann Sherwood was our winner! She and a friend will have the pleasure of a break at the Olde Rectory soon.
