XR1200® Trophy – the countdown is on!

Oxford (23 May 2011) - With only days to go until the start of the Harley-Davidson XR1200® Trophy championship, riders and fans are gearing up for a series of nail-biting races. Entering its second year, the XR1200® Trophy is guaranteed to be one of most exciting segments in the British Superbike Championship calendar.

Things kick off at Thruxton on 28-30 May. One of the fastest circuits in British superbike racing, Thruxton will be a high-octane start to the season, with its combination of straights and flowing bends proving a test of riders’ skills. From this first outing, some of the ones to watch will be Torquil Paterson, of Edinburgh, who came third in the series last year; James Webb, one of the youngest riders on the grid; and Dijon Compton, a tough contender who came in seventh last year. Missed out on tickets for this round? Make sure to check out the competition on our Facebook Page as we are giving away 2 premium paddock passes! The lucky winner will have exclusive access to the paddocks and potentially get face-to-face with the riders as well as meeting & greeting last year’s winner Jeremy McWilliams. Enter now to win this fantastic prize!

Second up is Knockhill, on 17-19 June. The speedy 1.3-mile track, near Dunfermline, is Scotland’s national motorsport centre. The next track to come alive with the sound of Harley® engines will be Snetterton, Norfolk, on 1-3 July. Fast and furious with plenty of opportunities for overtaking make it an exciting place to catch a race.

The XR1200® Trophy contenders will then descend on the tight and twisty Oulton Park, in Cheshire, on 15-17 July. Brands Hatch is next up, on 5-7 August. The Kent venue always draws huge crowds, and by the time we reach this point in the season, the competition will be getting tough, making for tense times trackside. The penultimate race will be at Cadwell Park on 27-29 August – the bank holiday weekend. The Lincolnshire circuit tends to draw the biggest superbike crowds of all, and its narrow track leaves little room for error.

Finally, it will all come down to Donington Park for the season finale on 9-11 September. The very last race in the calendar, Donington will sort the men from the boys and no matter who triumphs, it will certainly be exciting.

Tickets for all stages are now on sale. For more information about the -Davidson XR1200® Trophy championship or to book, visit: http://xr1200trophy.harley-davidson.co.uk/
